Growing up I used to really enjoy animated shows and movies like, Avatar the last airbender and Adventure time and as I got older I also started watching anime and YouTubers that animeted experiences from their life like for example theoddonesout and Jaden animations. To this day my favorite shows are Jujutsu Kaisen, Black clover and fire force to name a few. So I was thrilled at the opportunity to start animating my self.
Plot twist: Animation is hard
But as it turns out animating is actually so much harder than expected. First off I needed to find a proper app or software with which I could start animating. I use procreate a lot, to draw digitally and they released procreate dreams back in 2023. So I researched how good the app is and how I could use it. The app itself got improve a lot over the years and was made very beginner friendly but to get the most out of it I started by watching some tutorials.
Learning the basics
I started off by learning how to make a ball bounce and how to use onion layers. A short explanation to what onion layers are: basically when you move from one frame to the next, you still have the previous frame of the animation but it has a much lower opacity. This helps you to avoid mistakes, make the animation smoother and keep track of the movement.
